Power Rating: Strong - Got me there without a problem.
Noise Rating: Noisy - Emits an obvious buzz.
Texture and material construction: Fresh is made of silicone. Silicone is
body safe, non-porous, and phthalate free.
Leaf's site will describe it as "seamless," but that's not the case. A seam
runs along the body of it that can easily be felt with the hands. Not really
sure why they call it seamless since the seam is pretty noticeable. The good
news is that in use it's not noticeable like it is on the hand, though those
sensitive to seams may have a different experience.
There's also raised lettering on it on the top and side. It has the Leaf
logo and battery information. As per the manual, this is required by
international law. Fresh has the least noticeable lettering of all the Leaf
toys I have since it's not on the main body of it. It still takes a little
away from the visual, but it's pretty hard to see. I also don't have the
greatest vision, so take that with a grain of salt.
The silicone itself is smooth and velvety. It has a light amount of drag to
it. If you prefer no drag, just add a bit of lube and you'll be good to go.
It's not super draggy, but enough to give a bit of resistance in use. I
personally prefer a small amount of drag to external toys and this had just
the right amount. You get resistance, but you can still feel the velvety
texture.
Review Details:
USE - Fresh is an external vibrator that is intended to be used on the clit, but
could also be used just about anywhere you'd like external stimulation. It
shouldn't be inserted vaginally and certainly not anally as it lacks a
flared base and is small in size. It's small size works to its advantage if
you use it during sex since it won't get in the way like some bigger toys
can. It also works well if you use it in combination with other internal
toys for the same reason.
SIZE - Fresh is small but not bullet sized. It's 3" long and 2.25" in diameter at
the widest point. Near the small tip is .5" in diameter.
The size works really well for using this along with other toys or during
sex. It doesn't get in the way and it's easy to hold. The extra width at the
top allows for a good base to grip onto even though it is a smaller toy.
DESIGN - Fresh looks like an oddly shaped heart. It comes to a point at end. The top
has two hump shapes that come inward toward the middle very slightly. It's
not a perfect heart because one side comes in more than the other does.
You can use the pointed end for pinpoint stimulation. You can tilt it and
use the side to get a more broad sensation and cover more area. You won't be
able to get a broad sensation with this like you would with a wand or a
large, rounded bullet, but you can get a wider area covered depending on how
you hold it.
If you hold this with the upward curve against your body, it will form along
the body's curve. Unlike a straight bullet, it's designed to mold to you
instead of you having to readjust it constantly or try to find just the
right positioning. The shape of the Leaf line is really where they shine.
There's something about them that seems to flow very well with the body and
makes them a dream to use.
HOW IT WORKS - Fresh is controlled by a single button which operates on "press and hold"
technology. It's the same controls as the Jopen line, so if you have one of
those then you'll know how to operate the Leaf line. For those that don't,
it's a little different than a regular toy. Rather than pressing once for
each setting, you hold it down until you reach the desired power level. Once
you reach the power level you want, you release the button. You cannot turn
it down once you get to a level without turning it off and starting over. To
turn it on, you press once. To turn it off, you press it once again. To lock
it, you press it quickly three times.
The button is very tiny. It's located in the corner of the toy and raised
just the smallest amount. It's sort of an awkward place for it and I could
never seem to get the hang of the placement. My hand was always reaching in
other spots I felt like it should be instead of the corner. On the plus
side, I never accidentally changed settings since it was out of the way
which I tend to do with the press and hold controls.
PERFORMANCE - The Leaf line, like the Jopen line, has no patterns. It's just a steady
vibration with different power levels. I'm not a pattern person so this has
never bothered me, but I know it may be a deal breaker for some people.
Since it works on press and hold, there aren't a set number of power
settings. It goes from the lowest setting and slowly increases in speed as
you hold it. It doesn't jump from speed setting to speed setting. At the
lowest power level, it's a low two in intensity. The highest intensity is a
mid-range five in intensity. For those not aware of my rating system, I do
take wands out of the picture when rating to give other things a fair shot.
To give you some comparisons, it is a little bit stronger than Leaf Life,
MiMi, and Salsa. It is a little bit weaker than my Tango. (And, yes, I know
Salsa and Tango are supposed to have the same motor, but mine feel
different.) It won't hold a candle to a Hitachi, but if you can use the
stronger luxury clit vibes, then the power on this will compare to those.
The vibrations are very rumbly. They are more rumbly than the Leaf Life.
They aren't quite the "thud thud" of the Tango. Perhaps a less powerful
version of the Fun Factory G4 rumble would be a good comparison. The
vibrations are very deep and penetrate the skin well.
When pressure is applied, Fresh does not drop in power or otherwise freak
out. This is a big deal to me since I'm a pressure kind of girl. Nothing
kills a toy for me more than pressing down and having the power level just
die. Not the case here.
The vibrations are located what looks to be about an inch down from the tip
from the diagram in the manual. They can be felt the strongest here but
translate well into the tip. It would have been better if the motor were
closer to the tip, since this would have made it even stronger. Even though
the motor ends up close to where your hand goes, I didn't really notice any
numbing with this. You can certainly feel the vibrations in your hand when
you use it, it just doesn't numb your hand down.
Fresh is sort of noisy given that it's a more luxury vibrator. It's not
always noisy, which I find odd. Sometimes it's at a low rumble. Other times
it's like the motor goes berserk and the noise level shoots up. It's still
not insanely loud, but it's louder than it should be for a small, luxury
clit vibe when this happens. You could hear it through a closed door if you
were close to it.
Fresh operates on a rechargeable lithium polymer battery. It will need about
two hours to charge which should last about 1 hour and 15 minutes, as per
the manual. I think I've gotten over this time using it on high, but I also
wasn't sitting there with a timer. The charger connects in the center of the
top of the toy.
This is a waterproof toy, but the charging port is left open. Weird, right?
If you submerge it, a bubble forms around the charging port to keep water
out. After many Jopen toys and four Leaf toys, I still simply do not
understand how this works. It does seem to work though, so I trust it. If
you are hesitant of it, just treat it more as a splash proof than waterproof
toy.
CARE - If you want to trust the waterproof feature, you can wash this with soap and
water or toy cleaner. If not, you can use a wipe to clean it off. You could
also use a toy spray which can then be wiped off with a dry cloth. Don't
boil it or place it in the dishwasher since it has a motor in it.
Only water based lubes should be used with Fresh. Silicone lubes can damage
silicone material, so you should not use them with this toy.
Leaf provides a nice little storage pouch with Fresh, so you can keep it in
that. The box is also reusable, but does take up a bit of space given how
small the actual toy is. If neither of those appeal to you, a baggie works
just as well.
PACKAGING - Fresh comes in a brown box that I guess is supposed to look eco-friendly. It
says "Leaf Fresh 100% silicone finish, rechargeable, natural pleasure" on
the front. On the back is a drawing of Fresh with the 100% information as
well as battery info and the Power Bullet information. The side has further
details on the specs in multiple languages.
Inside the box is a folder that contains the manual. Yes, a folder for the
manual. Then Fresh is in the pouch inside a plastic baggie. The charger is
in another plastic baggie. So...very eco-friendly? Seems like a lot of
plastic and paper to me, but maybe I'm missing something. I'm not the best
at green stuff. The design is nice either way, so if you don't mind the
slight hypocrisy of a "green" sex toy using all that extra packaging,
everything will be okay.
RECOMMENDATION - Fresh will work best for those that prefer strong but not crazy strong
(read: Hitachi) vibration of the rumbly type. It will cater to those who
like pinpoint over broad stimulation. If you think you may be on the fence
with any of that, bear in mind that Fresh is one of the more expensive clit
vibes on the market. I'd be pretty sure that I was in that group before
buying it. If you are, I feel like it's worth the money, but I'd just say to
be sure you think the vibrations and stimulation work for your preferences.
I also wouldn't recommend getting this as a first toy given the price point.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE - When I first saw the picture of the Leaf line a while back, I near orgasmed
just looking at them. So pretty! With Power Bullet! Pinpoint stimulation and
nice curves! They looked like everything I'd ever dreamed a toy could be. I
got Spirit first and was left a little disappointed with the battery life
and power, but fell in love with the shape. With Touch, again I was in love
with the shape, but not the (this time buzzy) vibrations. Life was Leaf's
saving grace and quickly became my new favorite toy. Since I loved Life so
much, I decided to take the plunge on the last Leaf. I'm glad I did.
Fresh also turned out to live up to my expectations of what I wanted the
Leaf line to be. It's strong, rumbly, and curves well to my body. The
silicone is luxurious and feels good against my skin. I don't like it quite
as much as Life because the tip of Life has a little bit of flex to it.
While I thought this was a bad thing at first, it allows a wrap effect on my
clit that has worked wonders. Now I'm spoiled by it and the firm tip of
Fresh just isn't as nice as the slightly flexible wrap of Life. Still gotta
say, both Fresh and Life have made my once beloved MiMi feel pretty unloved.
On the downside, my hand does get a little crampy when using this compared
to Spirit, which is my favorite Leaf shape. It's no worse than MiMi or a
bullet, so if you're used to a rounded design for a base, it shouldn't pose
an issue. I'm never a fan of being able to feel vibrations in my hand, but
when you have a small toy that almost always happens. It didn't make my hand
go numb, so I won't count it against it entirely. |
