Behind The Green Door is the film that launched the illustrious career of the All American Ivory Snow Girl, Marilyn Chambers.
It is the story of two people who would normally never meet. Barry Clark, played by porn veteran George McDonald, is a bachelor from a small town in California who comes to San Francisco to broaden his sexual experiences. Taken by a friend to a private nightclub in the city's North Beach district, he witnesses the ravishment of a woman who has been kidnapped and then loved as never before.
Usually named as one of the top three all-time porn classics, Behind the Green Door is certainly significant. It marked the splashing debut of Marilyn Chambers and established a chic, sophisticated approach to erotic films. In contrast to Deep Throat, which mixed hardcore action with asinine jokes. Green Door is a smooth, urbane and realistic study of a woman's sexuality.
By today's standards the photography and filmmaking is lacking in quality, but it is still an arousing film. The story is about a trucker sitting in a café talking to his friend about a strange, bizarre sex club he attended while in San Francisco. In the club, a beautiful young girl was kidnapped and forced to participate in a live sex show for an audience of wealthy voyeurs. The erotic finale is what makes the movie a standout. Watching Chambers taking on black stud Johnny Keyes is a classic scene. |
